October is Archives Month! Our local leaders are curators of institutional and programmatic archives. How are the alakaʻi of Hawaiian archives leveraging manaʻo and kuleana to empower end-users, inform global standards, and delegate competence to future specialists?

ARMA Hawaii is now accepting scholarship applications. The scholarship provides membership to join ARMA International and ARMA Hawaii Chapter.

To effectively manage information throughout its lifecycle, you need to understand and make informed decisions about the systems and applications that touch or through which information will pass throughout its life. In this session, we will introduce the fundamentals of the SDLC process, discuss why organizations should have one; and identify specific steps in the process where IG input is critical.

Many organizations face challenges when applying data retention rules to their structured information systems. Some of these challenges include mapping and translating the retention schedules to the systems and then applying these rules to the data that makes up the record.

Ken Withers will explain the fundamental law regarding legal holds, discuss some recent high-profile court decisions, and provide practical guidance for developing the legal hold component of an overall records and information management program.

Come “Dive Venn” as we take a look at how a simple Venn Diagram may help you align your priorities and improve both your sanity and satisfaction.

Aloha mai kakou and a happy start to the Holiday season, The Hawaiʻi Chapter of ARMA International has had a busy year!

Members and guests of the ARMA Hawaii Chapter are invited to participate in a site visit to Access, a leading records management company with branches across the US, Canada, and Latin America. We will also host an informative discussion with the former President of ARMA International and Principal Consultant with Cohasset, Michael Haley.

During this session, Howard will share successful approaches, challenges and lessons learned, while assisting organizations in their journey towards achieving an electronic records environment, including an overview of what you need to know about electronic records and electronic records management systems.
